Should I tip the venue staff?
Tipping has become a very controversial topic nowadays! It seems every time we make a purchase, orany type of transaction, we’re asked to leave a tip. I will be the first to admit – tipping seems to be getting a bit out of hand. Whether you’re buying a cup of coffee, ordering at a drive thru, or just placing an order at a fast food counter, we’re made to feel we like we need to leave a tip. From landscapers to delivery drivers, from retailers to service industries, and everything in between – especially when
you’re paying electronically – it seems there’s always a “tip box” asking for 15%, 20%, 25%, even a 30% tip!
Now, please don’t misunderstand… most people, myself included, tend to be gracious and generous when it comes to tipping – no matter the person, company, product or service. We all understand that
hard working folks are working hard for one primary reason – to make money! However, in most cases, those same gracious and generous people, generally feel a tip should be earned – not automatic or obligatory. The only time we believe you should actually be “charged” or “billed” a gratuity is in the catering or cleaning industry. Most people do not realize how hard those people work!
With that said, let’s get back to the question at hand – “Should I tip the venue staff?” In our opinion, the answer is – “If they have earned it!” Here at Country Palms, everyone has the opportunity to tip our
outstanding venue attendants. From the parking attendants, to the guest services staff, to the clean up crew…our people are here to make sure your day goes perfectly as planned. They work hard, and will
work hard for you. Our goal is to exceed your expectations. So if they’ve earned it…really earned it…your tips are certainly appreciated. It’s simply a gesture of appreciation and gratitude. And when a
worker sees their efforts are appreciated and rewarded, it makes all the difference.
